[opensuse-project] *HELP NEEDED* We have a new bugzilla - now what?
Hello openSUSE, I'm happy to share that openSUSE now has its own bugzilla frontend at http://bugzilla.opensuse.org No more battling through long lists of Novell and SUSE's products to find openSUSE when filing bugs, (assuming you leave the default settings on) this new frontend automatically filters the available products when filing bug to those relevant for openSUSE The details of what changed are best covered in Michael's post on the topic, here: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2014-09/msg00057.html I recommend any questions on the changes are sent as replies to that thread. For this mail thread, I have a single request Can some people please step up and update our wiki to reflect these changes? The most important page that needs changing is https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Submitting_bug_reports Any URL reference to bugzilla.novell.com should be replaced with bugzilla.opensuse.org https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bug_reporting_FAQ is another page that needs to be updated to reflect the new changes - NEEDINFO is no longer a bug STATUS, but a flag, so that changes a bunch of stuff in the FAQ. Also, the change that has removed ASSIGNED and replaced it with 'CONFIRMED' and 'IN_PROGRESS' should probably be described There are also a bunch of old and outdated information on those two pages - I'd be quite happy for whoever steps up to be brutal and rip out anything they suspect is invalid or wrong - as long as the core information about the Bug workflow as described in Michaels recent email is there, I think that's a good place to start. Any takers? The wiki is always open for editing, but I figure given this huge change, we probably should get this important information fresh and ready, especially as we're preparing the release of 13.2 Regards, Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org

All that tiny gray text was too taxing to continue to complete satisfaction. It wore my eyes out. It surely could use improvement, but it's better now than it was for sure. There were two instances of novell.com I did not change, one for a bug owner email address (enter_package_bugowner@novell.com), the other the link for SLED/SLES beta bug searches. I eliminated references to officially unsupported releases, except for 11.4. In the Greasemonkey section I replaced, which may mean that instruction won't work. I don't use Greasemonkey. Wanting to keep mention of existence of one Evergreen in the page, I didn't look to see the exact date official 11.4 Evergreen support ended and only noted month and year in the support ended note. Several instances of special instructions for bug reporting were pointing to non-existent pages, which show up in red. I mostly left them as-is, e.g. Novell GroupWise. I added one for Dracut. The one for SaX2 I changed to SaX3. Zenworks I removed. Net changes to page -3,953 bytes. Link to complete changes as usual is on the page. http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=753203 may deserve an update by a disinterested observer, but it's locked except to reporter (me) and Novell people. https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bug_reporting_FAQ I've not touched. I don't know if or when I might. Off-topic: The bugzilla.opensuse.org theme's white on green for buttons, and green on white for links is painfully low in contast. The Wiki is only slightly better, using ever so slightly darker green. That inherited confounding automatic log you out at every opportunity attachmate horror remains a usability obstacle with no equal AFAIK among Gnu/Linux-related bug trackers. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." I put in around three hours on this, focusing heavily on NEEDINFO overhaul and grammar. -1,180 bytes, -10.55%. It can use more work after more experience using the upgraded version. Also there remain TBD sections. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation) Team OS/2 ** Reg. Do we need to use bnc#1234 in .changes files or something else? Looks like boo#1234 is free [1]. https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Packaging_Patches_guidelines#Current_set_of... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
