[opensuse-project] [GSoC] Firm pencils down | Final report - Suse Bug Reporter
Hello everyone, As tomorrow is the firm pencils down date, I thought I'd share with you the latest about my project. It now has a wiki page: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bugreporter where you can find general info about it. You can use the info on that page as the contents of this report. It also has now a man page, bash-completion for ease of use and it has been packaged so that anybody could use it. Last but not least, I want to add that the Google Summer of Code was a great experience for me, an experience for which I'm very grateful and I will continue working on this tool, bringing further improvements. I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand - enhancements on my GSoC experience, or on the design of bugreporter?
do you plan any kind of GUI for bugreporter?
Yes, I talked to Michal (my mentor) and I will mentor myself a project at an extra curricular open source course here at my university that consists of making a GUI for bugreporter. It will be done in Qt (pyqt) and later on, if libyui comes along nicely, I can work porting it on that, we'll see. enhancement of bug reporting. Your work is a good step in this direction :-)

looks promising :-) we need more bug reports from less skilled people thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.youtube.com/user/jdddodinorg http://jdd.blip.tv/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Well, one thing on my TODO list is a feature that allows attaching specific logs to the bug reports, according to what package is being reported against. Another one is watching for crashes and when a program crashes - open a prompt to report the bug and attach the dump file created. I've talked about implementing both these features with my mentor but we have to wait because at the moment python-bugzilla (the library we use) does not support attachments for Novell's bugzilla so Michal passed this on to the person at Suse that works on this. We are waiting for his reply.

Yes, that's the idea. I think that bugreporter allows them to do that. Basically, they have to enter a summary and a description and just choose a component from a list. Even if they choose it wrong, the asignee / cc list will be correct, so it doesn't matter that much!
