[opensuse-project] Naming: openSUSE Medical Team
I would like to see your opinion on naming of "openSUSE Medical Team" ? In English that I know term "Medical Team" implies doctors and nurses as a members, and the team activity is, health related, activity of doctors and nurses, nothing close to software development, collection, packaging etc. I would like you to consider this naming to be corrected, if necessary, before it is linked all over the web and hard to change without producing a lot of broken links to our web sites which is not popular anywhere, which can have negative impact on a openSUSE Medical project http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE-Medical -- Regards, Rajko openSUSE Wiki Team: http://en.opensuse.org/Wiki_Team People of openSUSE: http://en.opensuse.org/People_of_openSUSE/About -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

openSUSE Medical Team is actually a fantastic marketing name. It implies positively that we're all in this together and that openSUSE is a part of YOUR team. But... with that comes certain expectations with regards to quality of oSMT, as dependable, reliable, and stellar in most scenarios. Can you deliver on those expectations? There's certainly a lot of implied weight to that name. Health sounds like a physical fitness or nutritonist offering. I don't get the feeling that's what oSMT is about. Healthcare sounds like an insurance company. -- Bryen Yunashko openSUSE Board Member GNOME-A11y Team Member www.bryen.com (Personal Blog) www.planet-a11y.net (Feed aggregator of the Accessibility Community) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Medical Team - Medical Software Team - Medical Information Systems MT - MST - MIS The last is not very vibrant, new and intriguing, but it is exactly what current offer is.

Apropos offer, the VA has good and opensource software for US medical professionals. I don't know details, though.

MIS = Management Information Systems; an older form of "IS" or "IS&T" or "IT" in department naming; so that might be confusing to some. Medical Software Team would seem to be the clearest to me. openSUSE Medical Team is actually a fantastic marketing name. It implies positively that we're all in this together and that openSUSE is a part of YOUR team. My thoughts behind the Name was marketing related. I've just would like to let the doctors show, that we're workin' on their needs. The second thought was: I need a short name and nice to keep in mind. So my first choose was: Medical Team. And the name was media active. All have accepted our name.
But if it's not so good, then we can recreate our name (and our Wikisite :-( ). -- Sincerely yours Sascha Manns openSUSE Member openSUSE Ambassador openSUSE Marketing Team openSUSE Build Service Web: http://saschamanns.gulli.to Blog: http://saigkill.wordpress.com ClaimID: http://claimid.com/saigkill -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Hello , Well recreating the wikisite concerned to Medical project wont be difficult job i suppose :) .So no worries about it. And i IMO "Medical Team" completely sounds good and satisfies all needs :) . The term "openSUSE Medical" is OK, my note was just about "openSUSE Medical Team" and its connotation on this side. Call it "Team openSUSE Medical", or call team "openSUSE Medical Software Team", and there is no resemblance on doctors and nurses healing anybody, just software distro team having fun collecting software that can be used in medical practice. I'm sure that doctors here need something that will be like SLED Medical, with certification that it works correctly, otherwise they have another hole in their shield against law suits. Other countries probably have no problem with that and with strange sound of "openSUSE Medical Team", so depends on the target market, all can be perfectly fine. -- Regards, Rajko openSUSE Wiki Team: http://en.opensuse.org/Wiki_Team People of openSUSE: http://en.opensuse.org/People_of_openSUSE/About -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

first, openSUSE Healthcare also came to my mind. But it is still unclear, if this cares for the health of openSUSE, or is something else.

Like that even if it's rather dull :) The problem for me (native Englist speaker) is that "OS Medical Team" sounds like the ppl that you see if you come down with a fever, or require bandages... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org
