I like that idea - we've actually just started talking about ways to make the non-English forums more prominent, and even if we set this up as a redirection to the proper language-based forum root, that would certainly help the visibility. I've asked the staff what they think of it and will see if that's something that's technically feasible (I don't see why not, though).

As an oS forum user, I concur with that. Also, one of the advantages that came in my mind is less maintenence overhead for alionet admins and more for openSUSE admins. That simplifies the tasks too

I agree, completly,with all. There are some advantages but also some inconvenience (Alionet is an independant association, a "concurrent", etc,...) But I think it would be foolish to take no advantages of openSUSE hardware resources and human skills (even if they are endowed with their forum, etc...). I realized that the french Alionet community want "integrate" the forum and not just take a link. For me the main "french" activity must be the IRC channel, because there are members actively present in openSUSE project, packaging and who speak some languages. We do currently have a number of non-English language sections on the openSUSE forums, including a French one - I don't know if you've talked with the moderators of that group (though I know someone from Alionet is talking to swerdna as well).
