[opensuse-project] Resigning from the Board, ceding my post to Stephen Shaw
Dear fellow lizards, As you know, I have been part of the openSUSE Board for a few months now, thanks to your kind election. However, work and other duties have kept me too busy to be a useful part of the Board. I would like to step back from my duties in the Board, and cede my post to Stephen Shaw (known as decriptor on IRC). Stephen has been very active in the openSUSE community, and I am sure that he will be a much better Board member than myself. However, this does not mean that I will stop working on openSUSE! I am part of the openSUSE-GNOME team, and will keep working happily on the technical side of things there. Please welcome Stephen as the new Board member, and thanks for all, Federico -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Any chance that Stephen will manifest himself here? Personally, I have no idea who he is, so an introduction would perhaps be appropriate. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Thanks, that's cool - still, perhaps it'd be nice to see some more of Stephen being "very active in the openSUSE community" ? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org
Hi, Stephen is actually active and friendly and he came out with some nice truly community-oriented idea (rare stuff these days), which might not be well known, still it is an important contribution. Unfortunately, time is limited, and when someone is busy doing stuff he can't market himself as others. So, to make it short, give him some credit. ;-) Best, A. Oh, I was in no way suggesting anything else, just that I have no idea who he is nor what he does. Maybe I'm just the clueless one. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

YA "just an end-user" piping up ... tho' admittedly, most -- not all -- of my interaction has been in #irc, in my experience, Stephen's been very responsive, helpful, patient and straightforward. A great cheerleader for the product, and willing to listen to & consider both users' technical & business (of *suse deployment, e.g.) questions and perspectives. and a good sense of humor :-) personally, i'm thrilled -- as, imho, those qualities not only demonstrate "very active" participation if, but also a much-needed and welcome broader perspective to, the "openSUSE community". hear! hear! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Hi! I'm around! Here is just a quick intro. Please feel free to ask me questions. I tend to lurk on several MLs and IRC channels so I might not appear very involved sometimes. I'm currently employed by Novell to work on the SLED accessibility team as a build guy. In the past I was on the XEN virtualization team. I also spend some of my time at work helping out with the GNOME project within Novell, iFolder, and some other various project that touch ours such as accerciser, orca, at-spi, tomboy, tasque, and others. Some of them are a result of team members being the maintainers. As for the openSUSE community I've started various projects such as opensuse-tutorials.net, opensuse-community.com, twitter and identi.ca accounts, and also creating a few irc channels (initially around virtualization). I've also participated in helping out at conferences, meetings, packaging, giving some support in irc, and trying to spread the openSUSE love to name a few off the top of my head. In the local area, I've help start a couple user groups, push for linux at my local university, and more recently spend a lot of time into the Utah Open Source Confernce. This will be its 3rd year and is continuing to grow. Its crazy how fast 3 years comes and goes.
