[opensuse-project] we stopped selling openSUSE shirts - trademark permission request
Hi Board Members, At HELLOTUX we had permission to sell embroidered openSUSE shirts. I asked for prolonging this permission for another year, but still no answer :-( Our plans if we can make these shirts again: 1. New, green color, with white embroidery. I made a demo, it is really cool! 2. We would like to contribute shirts to members/ambassadors in the same way as we do with the Hungarian Ubuntu Community or donate money as for Linux Mint, Kubuntu or LXLE. 3. Sweater, kitchen apron, etc... What do you think? -- Gabor Kum owner of HELLOTUX - European Linux Clothes www.hellotux.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
Hi Gabor,
My records show that the Board approved your trademark request back at
the end of May 2014. Apologies if the email did not reach you.
You can consider this email as approval to prolong this permission for
another year (Given the strange circumstances, lets extend that until
May 2016)
As for your offer to contribute shirts to members/ambassadors - That's
a really interesting idea. How many would you have on offer? I'm
curious how we'll handle the logistics of it, but I'm certainly
interested in the idea

Hello Richard, Thank you for the permission. (I've never received that e-mail) My idea is that we can give to the openSUSE project a sum from the price of each shirt we sold. You can use this sum to order shirts to members/contributors/anybody with free worldwide shipping. (This free shipping offer is available for regular customers ordering openSUSE stuff too) So you don't need any logistics, we will do that all, including warranty, returns, etc... The main issue for us is that most of the openSUSE users don't know about our shirts. It could be amazing, if you could add us to the official openSUSE shop. I see you have fixed, or had fixed, the page now. Hi Board Members, As i wrote before, I offer something like these: The method we are doing with another free software community is the following:
From the price of every shirt we sold we add a sum to their balance, which they can use for ordering shirts for the community. Usually it is about $5 / shirt. Free shipping, worldwide. Other free software developers receive cash, this is usually less, depending on the shirt type.
What do you think? Could something similar work with openSUSE? -- Gabor Kum owner of HELLOTUX - European Linux Clothes www.hellotux.com Richard Brown a következőt írta ekkor: 2015. február 23. 18:21:55

We should do something like what Fedora did: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test/2014-January/120006.html 13.3 should be coming out little short of 10 years after the first "open" SUSE was released. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
