[opensuse-project] Updating the 'Derivatives' page on website
At the moment, it seems that a large portion of the projects listed on the openSUSE derivatives page (https://en.opensuse.org/Derivatives) have been abandoned or out of date, which couldn't possibly give a good impression of the distro to prospective users. What should be done about these pages? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org

As its a wiki anyone can register and provide updates fixes etc. Unfortunately large parts of the wiki are atleast somewhat out of date. they should be updated by people who have an opinion of how it should look.. thank you for volunteering, I look forward to seeing the page get a little refreshed :) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
Hi, yesterday I updated the Derivatives pages with a shorter (and less confusing IMHO) description for openSUSE Edu Li-f-E. Since i was doing that while updating the Italian translation, i accidentally pasted a translated string and saved the English page (the description of openSUSE Medical [0]). Now i would like to undo that edit, but the Wiki gives me the following message: " You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason: Your IP address has been automatically blocked because it was used by another user, who was blocked by Abuse filter. The reason given is: Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "Norton 123". The reason given for Norton 123's block is "Automatically blocked by abuse filter. Description of matched rule: phone number spam (in title / copy)" Start of block: 14:23, 14 June 2016 Expiry of block: 14:23, 15 June 2016 Intended blockee: 137.65.227.73 You may contact Abuse filter or one of the other administrators to discuss the block. Note that you may not use the "email this user" feature unless you have a valid email address registered in your user preferences and you have not been blocked from using it. Your current IP address is 137.65.227.73, and the block ID is #386. Please include all above details in any queries you make. " Since my IP address is different from the one provided in that message, why the Abuse Filter is blocking me? 137.65.227.73 is the IP of one of the authentification proxies (all requests to the wiki go through one of them). It looks like AbuseFilter does IP blocking :-/ (besides user blocking) - and with the current config, it blocks the auth proxy IPs (instead of the real IP [1]) and therefore also blocks valid edits :-( I just disabled the "block user and/or IP" option in AbuseFilter (hopefully this doesn't result in too much spam) and removed the IP blocks so that you can edit the wiki again. Regards, Christian Boltz [1] There is a MediaWiki setting for proxy handling [2] so that the original IPs are honored, but obviously nobody did set that for the openSUSEwiki, and the server admins in Provo are less responsive than I'd hope :-/ [2] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgSquidServers -- Es gibt Leute, bei denen man im Killfile sein sollte, oder man hat etwas flashc gemacht. Hi,

Could it be useful to disable auto-promotion to editors of new users who make many changes? Thank you Christian. And thank you to the user Qantas94heavy who corrected the typo. I doubt ;-) and besides that, the integration with Access Manager makes things even more interesting. I don't know the details, all I know is that we have a ~300 lines extension that does the integration between Access Manager and Mediawiki (including user creation etc.). Without understanding how this integration works exactly, it's probably better not to play funny games with user permissions. The real fix is to tell the wiki about the proxy IPs so that it can see the "real" IPs of the users and spammers [1]. Once we have that, I can re-enable user and IP blocking without the overblocking you noticed. ;) [Timo Schoeler in postfixbuch-users] -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
