[ot] Oddity installing Oracle-9i on 9.1

Not strictly programming, but someone out there may have an idea of how to deal with the java issues (or have worked around them already): Using the 9.2.0.4 (May-2004) installer: $ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2004-06-10_09-31-39PM/jre/bin/java. Please wait... Error occurred during initialization of VM Unable to load native library: /tmp/OraInstall2004-06-10_09-31-39PM/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so: symbol __libc_wait, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference. I can get the install to fail due to lack of libraries if I hack the initialization files to use a recent copy of java downloaded from sun: [Oracle] DISTRIBUTION=TRUE SOURCE=../../stage/products.jar LICENSE_LOCATION= JRE_LOCATION=../../stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.3.1.0.0/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre/linux OUI_LOCATION=../../stage/Components/oracle.swd.oui/2.2.0.18.0/1/DataFiles/Expanded JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=" -mx48m" DEFAULT_HOME_LOCATION= DEFAULT_HOME_NAME=OUIHome NO_BROWSE=/net NLS_ENABLED=TRUE BOOTSTRAP=TRUE OUI_VERSION=2.2.0.18.0 Changing the file to ignore their install gives me: JRE_LOCATION=/opt/java/j2re1.4.2_04 gives me: $ ./runInstaller Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2004-06-10_09-34-52PM/jre/bin/java. postgres on SuSE 9.1

Dear my friends... Usually I use MySQL. Now I have to migrate my database from MySQL to Postgres. I have created a database successfully with "creatdb" and a user account successfully. But I can not access the postgres with pgaccess. getting Kdevelop to look for includes

Hi all, I'm new to programming in Linux and have picked up Kdevelop in the last few days. I'm currently building my first project with C++ and am playing with SDL. However, when I try and compile, i'm being told that SDL.h cannot be found. The compiler only appears to be looking in /usr/include/g++ and my SDL libraries are in /usr/include/SDL How can I open up its search path? Thanks in advance.

I have combed the net for hours and searched the SuSE documentation but can find nothing on: failed to resolve X11 functions at link time I guess that SuSE didn't correctly install something in the environment, but I cannot find any requirements. Getting the text value of a lineEdit

Dear my friends... I am a very beginner in Qt. I am still learning hard this programming tool. I made it to do a sql connection inserting a record into my MySQL Database Server; I want to get a text value of a lineEdit which typed in by the user of my program (if I succeed to master Qt) and processed my by code as put it into a SQL Query or else. In Kylix I do it very simply, just do like this : " a=TEdit1.Text; ". if I do "lineEdit1." then I find only set<<...>> property and slot diplayed on the Qt Designer display as a hint. There are three processes which seem to be stuck waiting for something. The process listed below as 24657 seems to be active, in so much as its cpu time continues to increase, and its memory usage fluctuates. The other two seem to be waiting for it to finish. But it has been running for 45 minutes. This returns a pseudorandom integer up to Rand_max, usually at least 32767. Does anyone know what is the probability distribution of the numbers? Is there a random generator that returns 'standard' normal distribution with a mean of 0 and an sd of 1? Thanks Johan

I have installed the driver with YaST2.
