Where is the problem. If I write in the first line: #include <iostream> the problem is also not solved.

Richtig, die Warnung über den deprecated Header ist wahrscheinlich verschwunden.

This are linker lessages. ld (implicitly called by gcc) doesn't use libstdc++. --> two possible solutions: $ gcc test.cpp -lstdc++ or $ c++ test.cpp in both cases your executable will be called "a.out", I suggest using the command line option "-o <desired name>", and reading through the output of: $ man gcc and $ info gcc carefully... (there could be more surprises)

I hope, your Questions will be answered in the Book later on, too (namespaces, naming of the std headers). If not, try to get a more recent c++ book.

HTH Manfred Gahr (1) Note: The new standard Libraries use namespace std, so using namespace "std"; could be useful, or "std::cout" instead of "cout". P.S. Excuse me if my English isn't correct...
