Hi, I've got the following problem: I want to ssh to another computer: But: When I type ssh username@thehostiwant I get the message: ssh: Bash: command not found Since I'm not really an advanced Linux User I thought maybe ssh isn't existing on Linux...lets try: man ssh And what happend? It showed me the man pages of ssh -> so I think ssh IS existing on Linux and I think I have installed it, because I think if the man pages are shown its correctly installed...or not? But for one reason it's not running on my machine. I'm running Suse Linux 7.0 PPC on a Macintosh G4. If anybody has any hints how I can get ssh running on my machine I'd be glad to hear about it And just a question: What about Suse Linux 8.0 for PPC? Any ideas when it'll be available? Thank you mat
check that path to the executable files of ssh client or server is correct ,
if you were instaled ssh build it from sources with default prefences the
bin files will be placed in to /usr/sbin or /usr/local/bin ..
Also if you are not root or some power user you maybe dont have permisions
to execute this files ..
so check this an d try to correct problems .

Hello everybody, Thank you for your hints how to check if a package is installed: I did so and I finally found that ssh is not installed on my machine. So I put the Installer CD in and tried to install it, but: I can't find the ssh Package. I was looking throw all the Packages and none of them seemed looking like a ssh Package. Has anybody any idea what I have to install so that I can run ssh on my Macintosh G4 under Linux 7.0 ? Thank you in advance for all your hints greetings mat

Did you look for openssh*.rpm? I think, openssh*.rpm should be in the packet "sec1". tschuess Klaus
