antivirus for SuSE-7.3-PPC / Postfix
Hello, As Amavis/Antivir are not delivered with SuSE-PPC, does anyone know of a workable email/antivirus program that works with Postfix on SuSE-PPC -- Alain Barthélemy SBB-ISP

... From: Rainer Link Actually, AMaViS works on PowerPPC, as it's written in Perl (it works flawlessly on an iSeries 270 maschine with sendmail). But AntiVir is only available for Linux/i386 and therefore AMaViS isn't shipped on SuSE-PPC (as AMaViS requires at least one virus scanner, and Antivir is the only virus scanner we're shipping on our CDs). Please consider to install AMaViS from the sources (http://sf.net/projects/amavis) - this applies to some Perl modules, needed by AMaViS, too. Grabing the source RPMs from the i386 tree and re-building them should work, too. Currently, I'm only aware of two virus scanners working on PPC: a) Sophos Sweep - but that's a non-public version, AFAIK. So, just get in contact with the Sophos folks (www.sophos.com) b) OpenAntiVirus ScannerDaemon, which is written in Java. But it isn't ready for prime time yet and I won't recommend it as your sole virus scanner within AMaViS. Please let me know, if I missed a product for Linux/PPC. Of couse, you may ask your favorite anti-virus vendor for a PPC version. Probably they consider porting their software to this platform on public demand :) HTH best regards, Rainer Link (SuSE Labs) -- Rainer Link | SuSE Linux AG - The Linux Experts link@suse.de | Developer of A Mail Virus Scanner (www.amavis.org) www.suse.de | Founder OpenAntiVirus Project (www.openantivirus.org) ... -- $ man clone BUGS Main feature not yet implemented...
