keyboard problems under X using jast 1
i will need to install suse ppc 6.4 using yast 1 (on my mac clone). yast 2 doesnt work on my machine, probably because of the graphics card. the yast 1 installation left me with a system that was mostly fine, only the keymap under X was really really broken. not an american keymap but something really off. i need to know what i have to change after the installation to get my german keyboard to work. anyone got any pointers? lukas
I am meeting the same keyboard problem with my iMac rev B... did you try the patch from : http://www.suse.de/en/support/download/updates/ppc_64.html Steph' On Thu, 27 Jul 2000, tomtom wrote:

The problem seems to be that different /proc/cpuinfo output. Can you paste your output from cat /proc/cpuinfo ? I placed a newer version of xsfb.rpm on the ftp server, just have a look at http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/keylist.POWERPC.html Use the "international keymaps" and "configure the framebuffer" article. xsfb creates now a valid XF86Config if there is no proper KEYTABLE variable in rc.config. Dear Olaf, so how is about using X 4.0.1 & SuSE 6.4 ? My config is: - SuSE 6.4 PPC - Linux 2.4.0-test2 - X 4.0.1 (straight outta XFree86 cvs) - DRI for X 4.0.1 (cvs, ditto) So I will try your keymaps xbd ? tommorow, but is it X 4.0.1 compatible - I guess no. I allready tried an ppc xfree xkbd update - nothings works ! The X 4.0.1 keymaps works well but the follwing keys not: - mode_switch -> AltGR+8 for e.g. "[" and all the others: "{[]}" does not work ! - <> are vicaversa with ^° keys (no really problem :-) ... will just try it with xmodemap ...

It is compatible. Please follow the instructions at http://penguinppc.org/ xf4. If you have an ADB keyboard you need the new input layer or the keys 10/50 (console) and 18/58 (X11) are swapped. It is solved in the current Benh kernel. USB keyboards should be fine. Gruss Olaf -- $ man clone BUGS Main feature not yet implemented...
