Blinking cursor during installation
Hi! I´m having some problems with installing SuSE PPC-Edition 7.1. The spec is: Powermac 7200/90 64 Mb mem HD Quantum Fireball (8,4 Gb) + Quantum Fireball (500 Mb) I´m not sitting in front of the machine right now so I really don´t have more spec-info now but I can check if needed. My problem is that I can´t install the machine using Yast2. With Yast1 it works (pretty) OK. I have MacOS on the 500 Mb HD and want to install SuSE on the 8,4 Gb HD. When in MacOS I start the BootX-application on the CD it boots well into linuxrc and I get the option to choose between Yast1 & 2. If I choose Yast2 from there that also works OK and I can define everything the way I want it. The installation continues and installs the selected packages (I want to install with the network server option). After a while the machine reboots. Now comes the problem. The machine starts booting, but after a while, all I see is a blinking block cursor in the upper left corner. Then nothing happens. What is going on!? //Micke

The X11 server fails to start up and yast2 uses the textconsole as a fallback. Due to a bug in the fallback code, the virtual console isn't properly switched. Try to switch to console 1 or 3 with ctr-altr-F1 or ctrl-alt-F3. Klaus

Isn't it ctrl-Apple-Fkey instead? (And Apple-F7 to get back to X) regards nicola
