Likely won't work, too. Try sth. like "pktsetup mycd /dev/hdc". This will create /dev/pktcdvd/mycd and that's the device you can use for mounting. This way it works for us, while doing like the man page says doesn't work here either. -- Dipl.-Inform. Frank Steiner Web: http://www.bio.ifi.lmu.de/~steiner/ Lehrstuhl f. There is no /dev/pktcdvd or /dev/pktcdvd/0 here. __but__

Thanks for that!!! Have been messing with this problem for 2 weeks and this does work!!!! Debian 3.1, Kernel 2.6.8, udftools 1.0.0b3-5. Thank you __very__ much! Wayne
Shame on me. I've done this several times before, but apparently I cannot get used to it. When I first used the new patched pktsetup I also had a hard time to find out how to use it correctly. When you run pktsetup without parameters you get a usage message that says: pktsetup dev_name /dev/cdrom
From that you can guess that you can substitute an arbitrary name for dev_name, but it's not quite obvious. An additional README or Changelog entry would be extremely helpful.

you're right. it's a --w-r----t file !?
how can i make it correctly?
Just "rm /dev/pktcdvd" and "mkdir /dev/pktcdvd", if you have a static /dev. If you are using tmpfs/udev, some setup script is wrong on your system. Check that the dir has 755 and root:root. cu, Frank -- Dipl.-Inform. Frank Steiner Web: http://www.bio.ifi.lmu.de/~steiner/ Lehrstuhl f. I forgot to update the man-page when I wrote the udftools patch. There is some documentation in linux/Documentation/cdrom/packet-writing.txt, but it doesn't explicitly say that dev_name has to be a valid filename. I'll fix the man-page and submit the patch for inclusion in the udftools cvs. -- Peter Osterlund - petero2@telia.com http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340
