The current patch-2.6.2-rc1 doesn't apply cleanly to the new Linux-2.6.3 - which is an important release since it fixed a security bug. I attempted to apply by hand the failing chunk, but the result didn't function properly. -- Richard A Downing FBCS http://www.109bean.org.uk/ Anyone sending unwanted advertising e-mail to this address will be charged $25 for network traffic and computing time. Yes, I got: patching file drivers/ide/ide-cd.c Hunk #1 succeeded at 3008 (offset 19 lines). patching file drivers/scsi/sr.c Hunk #1 FAILED at 823. patching file include/linux/cdrom.h Hunk #1 succeeded at 499 with fuzz 1 (offset 1 line). So, it seems it should work in IDE mode. I don't compile SCSI anymore (despite the reported problems). But the 2.4.23 applies cleanly. Anyway, I've almost switched to 2.6. patching file Documentation/Configure.help Hunk #1 succeeded at 773 (offset 14 lines). patching file arch/sparc64/kernel/ioctl32.c Hunk #3 succeeded at 5047 (offset -1 lines). patching file drivers/block/ll_rw_blk.c Hunk #3 succeeded at 1452 (offset -2 lines). I don't think the last offset will hurt. BTW, since the 2.6 patch doesn't touch much code, will it be included in the -mm series anytime soon ? -- http://www.pervalidus.net/contact.html

This patch does not appear to work for me. I built the kernel with it and rebooted. I formatted a new disk on my HP 9310i using: cdrwtool -d /dev/hda -q -t 4 The usual messages were output and the task finished normally. I mounted the disk with: pktsetup /dev/pktcdvd0 /dev/hda mount /dev/pktcdvd0 /mnt/cdrom -t udf -o rw,noatime and created a directory on it, and copied several megabytes of files. I checked the files were present with both ls and df. I accessed the files - normal results. Then I synced the disks and unmounted. Following a remount, neither the new directory nor the files were present and the disk usage as reported by df had returned to 1% (44blocks). The directory lost+found was, however, still present. Any ideas? I'm at a loss as to how to diagnose this. -- Richard A Downing FBCS http://www.109bean.org.uk/ Anyone sending unwanted advertising e-mail to this address will be charged $25 for network traffic and computing time.
