[opensuse-packaging] Finding pkg name.
Hello I have been using OBS for a few weeks now. I would like to know if there is a way to find the package name that provides a specific header file that I want to use, using the web interface. I need this info to fill up my BuildRequires line. No, there is not.

Just leave it out and see what happens. Chris -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

The practical problem is that often configure will just skip over missing prerequisite and your package will build but without some features. If you are lucky and some file explicitly listed in %files is missing, you are least get packaging error; but if some code will be just #ifdef'ed out during compilation, you will not notice it until later. Having possibility to query full file list for a distribution is very handy. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Inspect the configuration summary to learn what those would be. Chris -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

For released openSUSE distributions, download ARCHIVES.gz from http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.2/repo/oss/ (obviously this link is for 12.2). The non-oss tree has a separate ARCHIVES.gz, but you probably won't find too many headers in it. ARCHIVES.gz contains rpm -qi (package information) and rpm -ql (filelist) results for all available packages. You can search it with zgrep or pin. @OBS team: it would be nice if you could create an ARCHIVES.gz for other distributions also ;-) Regards, Christian Boltz -- GETOPT(3) BUGS This manpage is confusing. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
Thank you folks.
