[opensuse-packaging] vdr, lirc, dvb looking for new maintainer
Hi, Due to lack of hardware I no longer actually use lirc nor vdr so I shouldn't be maintaining the packages anymore either. I hardly invested any time in those packages the last years but still had no complaints. So either noone uses them either or the software is just perfect :-) Anyone willing to take over maintainership? cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

I'm using dvb so feel tree to pass maintainership of dvb to me. I am not using lirc nor vdr (tried vdr but was disappointed by its non-standard recording format) so I am not volunteering for these, sorry. -- Jean Delvare Suse L3 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Ok, thanks! vdr/dvb is yours now.

IIRC the devel versions of vdr switched to storing a transport stream. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Any pointer? I'd love to read more about that. My try with version 1.6.0 wasn't successful, the recordings were split arbitrarily and the format was, while close to MPEG, not standard enough for dvbcut to process it without errors here and there. As a result I gave up on the idea of a headless DVB recorder, and went back to me-tv. -- Jean Delvare Suse L3 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Cutting can be done by vdr itself pretty easily. For further processing I used to use ProjectX to demux the files and then IIRC mplex to combine them again. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Sound promising. I am just realizing that this happened shortly after version 1.6.0 was released. Meanwhile there have been no new stable release but 30 development (1.7.x) releases. Might be worth giving it a try, it's probably a lot better than 1.6.0 by now. Would be good if upstream could branch 1.8 soon.

Thanks for the hints. I installed ProjectX and will give it a try. I didn't find mplex though, what/where is it? -- Jean Delvare Suse L3 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

vdr is developed like Linux was in ancient pre-bitkeeper times...

That was osc syntax, ie devel project for lirc is vdr. I didn't assign vdr/vdr to you :-) cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

hand that one over to me. I have a server installation of VDR, so I'm somehow "using" it -- Stefan Seyfried "If your lighter runs out of fluid or flint and stops making fire, and you can't be bothered to figure out about lighter fluid or flint, that is not Zippo's fault." -- bkw -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
