Hi List! I wonder if there is any documentation available on how the packages, packages.DU, packages.en and so on are structured. I already understood a bit of these, but i'm hanging on some entrys. Thanks, -rauch

Install the kdebase3-SuSE package, and let /opt/kde3/share/apps/krpmview/create_package_descr do the hard work for you. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org Packages for SUSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms Make Poverty History: http://makepovertyhistory.org

I know this tool and have created yast repo data this way. But i want to read the data for use in an web interface. I simply want to show the available packages, their versions, their files and all other date available through the packages files. So i need some documentation, as i am coming to my limit on understanding some parts. regards, -rauch

We have specifications for that format internally - I'll check if they are (or can be made) available. Stay tuned. Regards Christoph

Perhaps a tad OT, but I've been waiting for years for SuSE to provide a quick howto and a template.spec for how to make rpms for a SuSE distro. There's only deafening silence. Hi,

Cool - things are added all the time. Thanks for the tip! The spc looks just like the thing. Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is possibly list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me.

Please dont do that. I will see that we will get this to the yast repository on forge.novell.com and then we can link to that. Otherwise we have to maintain this information twice. Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, http://hennevogel.de "To die. In the rain. Alone" Ernest Hemingway

Maybe someone should add that info to an appropriate wiki page ;)
Please do not copy anything when changes do not get ported back. Either the YaST people should maintain this document in the wiki or it should get on some web space and we only link to it. Nothing is more disappointing when changes simply get dropped on the next update ... We are anyway in the process of moving out more sources and maintain documentation via doc.opensuse.org (handled by the documentation people). I will talk to YaST and Doc team how we can consolidate this. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de

If this information stays in the package yast2-packagemanager-devel, what i believe, this information could have been added, but this was already done. This was the only thought i got, when reading this. So this should not be any problem at all. There is no duplicate information, only the information, *where* to find more information ;) rauch
