[opensuse-packaging] query - opensuse equavilant of ncurses-static, libjpeg-static, zlib-static.
Hello I am trying to compile a package called 'testdisk' I extracted the files out of the source rpm file in this case it was testdisk-6.11.3-1.src.rpm The error I get is as follows: expansion error nothing provides ncurses-static, libjpeg-static, zlib-static Question: What are equivalent opensuse items that I can use instead of these items ? BuildRequires: ncurses-static BuildRequires: libjpeg-static BuildRequires: zlib-static Thank you Glenn Project -> https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=testdisk&project=home%3Adoiggl spec file -> https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file?file=testdisk.spec&package=testdisk&project=home%3Adoiggl No log available available as yet. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

We generally frown upon usage of static libraries (security updates are much harder). If we have them at all, they are usually either in the -devel package, or sometime in the -devel-static package. In this case you are lucky to 66%: ncurses-devel zlib-devel-static no static libjpeg. You'll have to live with the dynamic one. Depending on the usecases of testdisk it might be a good idea to also use the other dynamic libs, not the static ones. Overall, static libraries are being phased out almost completely, only very specific packages have them or have a -devel-static variant. Your package seems wrong anyway, it bundles copies of progsreiserfs, ntfsprogs and libewf. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org
