Hi, I'm the lead developer of OGMRip (http://ogmrip.sf.net). I've been criticized lately on the french forums of ubuntu because I do not provide any ubuntu package. I do not provide any fedora/redhat/suse package either. I do not use a RPM based distro myself and I do not have any knowledge on how to make RPM packages. I'm then looking for someone of good will which can take the maintainership of OGMRip on SUSE. Thanks, Olivier --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

JFYI, the main problem which can disallow a hosting on suse/opensuse.org may be that there may be dependencies to patented / illegal stuff of such a package. Reject the blame. Nobody can force or blame you. Just look at pam-mount: Every distro rolls their own package, including SUSE even though I provide an RPM for that. Well, it's not job of the upstream maintainer to take care for technical details of packaging for each imaginable distribution. If the packagers of the distribution don't care for this, it's not your fault. Upstream maintainers should care for bugs and code not packaging.

Looking at the project, it seems it has some dependencies on software which cannot be included in openSUSE because of legal problems (e.g. mplayer and lame). So this would rather be a candidate for Packman (http://packman.links2linux.de/). I do agree. I want OGMRip to be available on as many distributions as possible but I'm not going to build or maintain the packages myself.

Thanks, I'll have a look on Packman. Olivier --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org
