[opensuse-packaging] Can someone update stopmotion?
Hi there, in the recent issue of the important German computer magazine c't was an article about "stopmotion". Unfortunately openSuse's Education repository provides only a package for version 0.6.2 which is three years old. The current version 0.8.0 is not yet packed. Could someone be so kind and create an updated openSuse package? Thanks Christoph -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Yes I think the new upstream website is:
http://linuxstopmotion.org/
And if you look on the sourceforge site linked at "download" 0.8.0 is available.
Regards,
Ferdinand

Yes, I updated the the package to 0.8.0 and cleaned/fixed it a bit. Submit request id to Education repo is 350811. If you do not want to wait until it is accepted, feel free to install from my home repo https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:ocfreitag Have fun, Klaas

Hi Klaas, thanks for updating the package! Too bad, that your request got rejected. Maybe we should ask the author of stopmotion how to achieve the different doc dir. I think the issue with the translation files (mentioned twice) is already fixed upstream in stopmotion 0.8.1 which could be backported. To get the package working, I still needed to build vgrabbj 0.9.8 from source. I'll try to create such a package for Education. What's about libtar? I saw you updated the library on a private repository. Do you mind requesting the merge to Education? To get the package working, I still needed to build vgrabbj 0.9.8 from source. I'll try to create such a package for Education. Hm, what exactly do you mean? Is it a build dependency that is currently missing? The stopmotion tool seems to work fine here, with my test package from the branch.

Yes, did that in the first place but it was rejected too, for good reasons. I just submitted both packages again, lets see :) regards, Klaas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
Hi Klaas, thank you for you recent requests.

I just got a reply from the stopmotion developer Tim Band:
--with-html-dir
This should be fairly straightforward. Do you want something like this:
qmake PREFIX=/usr DOCS_PREFIX=/usr/share/docs/stopmotion sudo make install

Sure, your stopmotion package is working fine. But not all devices are working out of the box. Some need gphoto2, stubgrabber or vgrabbj to capture their image. stopmotion was accepted and is now updated in Education. Let me know if it works for you. I am wondering if that should not go to factory actually... Another thing: There is a tool called qstopmotion: http://www.qstopmotion.org/index.html#home It says its a "fork of stopmotion", and it has recent changes. Do you know anything about it? Maybe we should switch to that one? regards, klaas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
Hi Klaas, great! The package works for me. I got vgrabbj accepted to app:multimedia; that will make it easier to use stopmotion.

I don't get what you mean.

I don't see the benefit. I like stopmotion and will stick to it. It is actively developed. Maybe we can offer both packages. With the currently unreleased version 0.8.1 we can get rid of all patches. I just tried it in my home repository. Bye Christoph -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
