Hello Team Finally the November iso for SLICK (Suse performance enhanced release LIght, Core and Kde), please test and report back before I announce it to the world (ergo the website). With the new build server for SUPER set up things are moving again ;). I am going to create the accounts tonight to use the SUPER cvs and build server, if you have not yet told me you would like an account, here is your chance. The build server allows you to check in your spec file and SOURCES and have it automatically build and added to an apt repository. Getting rid of Firefox could SLICK make this even SLICKER. I apperciate feedback if we should now completely concentrate on KDE and forget any Gnome/gtk apps in SLICK. - prelink has been disabled as it really just slows down the whole install with dubious benefits to the running of the system We all appreciate the work from many others at SUSE and especially from the KDE project that has gone into this. I also consider all the above repository maintainers indirectly part of SUPER and as such thanks to everyone for this fantastic KDE based SUSE release. I hope that that doesn't imply that there would be no support for adding Gnome/GTK applications. I use netapplet/netdaemon for cable/wireless switching which I believe are gnome apps, along with the Gimp. In addition, I believe that the SMART package manager is written using GTK just to mention a few. Thanks... Tom

nice to hear that it works (well, it worked for me, but with amarok you
never know..)
Andreas: if you used my smart 0.40-11 package, please make sure to
upgrade to 0.40-12 - unfortunately I had a nasty bugger in there, my

sorry about that

I see and I agree. I can only say that amarok-1.3.6-3 does work for me on my laptop and I can use and enjoy the xine-cvs version I do ;) What is your exact issue Andreas? If you go into the engine properties you should be able to select xine? Andreas

Only if you want to help testing otherwise just use the sources.list that I provided and upgrade with apt/kynaptic/smart. I think so. There is going to be one per month and if the release is broken then I rerelease for an external release. Currently only listmembers should know. Andreas

I know you can slelect it, but all that does is reinstall what is already installed. They are not selected, when you go into YOU. Very odd Andreas

Hmm... well... I don't like doing that. Basically, if SUSE provide a package in the newest version as well, theirs should be used, not mine.
cheers

Hello,
http://opensuse.linux.co.nz/ftp/pub/SUPER/iso/super-SLICK-final-20051114-mod...
installed this version today on an IBM Thinkpad Notebook an wondered about a few things... 1. On Install there are "false depencies" with xpdf. Had to "not install" this package so that I can go on with the install process 2.
- prelink has been disabled as it really just slows down the whole install with dubious benefits to the running of the system
At the end of the install in the "clear cache" process there was the prelink action again (which takes about ~15 Minutes)... so it isn't disabled!? 3. apt has a false qt3-version (qt 3.3.5) in the kde-repository at the moment for the actual stable version of kde (3.4.3) which is really a "sad thing" (it's in the same repository)! This causes problems with kdelibs3* and there are for example "no" styles in kcontrol center (four ugly ones, no plastik and so on) So use an older qt version or hope for a fix for this wrong qt-version in apt is the only chance at the moment... Regards, Heart P.S.: Above iso is my hdd, so if you need that it let me know!
