Hello Team So ein Mist. So it seems that we have just lost my entire opensuse.linux.co.nz ftp server directory by an rsync --delete from another admin of the box. Does anyone have a backup? I can reconstruct most of it. As if there are no other things to do :( We will be mirrored soon. I will use the yoper mirrors to distribute our stuff once I found a way to get it all back. Collocation with backup is just not affordable on my salary, sorry! Cheers Andreas

The only thing I can offer are the ISOs of SUPER final standard KDE and the SLICK RC1 via Bittorrent from [1]. I think this shows again that we need to concentrate more on Bittorrent for distribution of ISOs, since Bittorrent does not have a single point of failure. Thanks to the miracles of distributed hash tables these torrents will work even when the tracker is down!
Anyway, I think you should really hurt this other 'admin'. Regards nordi [1] http://www.slo-fi.de/linux/torrent.html

Why can't we use sourceforge to store our files?

That would certainly be a good idea for the i686 optimized packages. But I wonder if you can setup an install source for YaST this way. Actually it should be possible.... The isos are a different matter, though. I don't think Sourceforge would be too happy if we put a few GB on their servers without asking first. Cheers nordi

Good point - why can't we use Novell's forge to store them? It would seems perfect for this. Cheers Pete

Why can't we use torrent? Torrent is imo the best idea for downloading such big files as ISO are. ---------- SU ---------------------------------------------------------------------- INTERIA.PL | Kliknij po wiecej >>> http://link.interia.pl/f18c1

I'll make a few checks to see if we can host trackers on Novell's forge. I'd love to see both options available - download from an ftp site or via BT. Replies to the list Cheers Pete

we have a tracker.opensuse.org also. All I need is the torrent file to add it as allowed file.

It seems to be that fast, that you dont had the time to start a new thread instead of hijacking another one ;) SCNR, Jens

Just depends on how impatient you are. The slick based on 10.1 will have kde 3.5 in it since 10.1 has it.
love to see a amd 64 version,... reason: got super running on my laptop, dell 6000 and runs great, even better than retain 9.3 ..... just replaced my ageing P4 with an amd , asus a8n-vm csm motherboard, and can't get it to run, death of black screen,.... did try the 7676 nvidia rpm,.. just did not work,... and installing super, gives a warning about 32bit software,.... so and AMD 64 version ? ... once I got KNX running, offer remote compile,... another request, would be , for an USB flash disk install, thanks, Robert Schultz super bedarf es wenig, denn wer super ist, ist ein koening. --------------------------------- Yahoo! They have a good selection of SuSE releases, but not SUPER nor SLICK. Tom.

Tom.
The point I was trying to make is that Super and Slick could be placed there.
