I have installed openSuse.org and can't open the site www.opensuse.org within a browser. Network configuration: Router at 192.168.1.1 Main Host: eth1: 192.168.1.2 sixxs 2002:1234:abcd:1234::2 eth0: 10.1.1.1 2002:1234:5678:1::1 Systems in tge internal network get address and routing infos via DHCP eg radvd he The name server (maradns) on the host act as proxy and caching name server. If I launch wget http://www.opensuse.org I get an error message host name can't be resolved. I get the same result if the site has only an IPv6 address. If the site has as well an IPv4 as an IPv6 address, all seem to work, with the exception that not the IPv6 address is used but the IPv4 If I look at the DNS query via wireshark, I see: Query A www.opensuse.org -> IP returned Query AAAA www.opensuse.org -> no ip returned Query A www.opensuse.org -> IP returned Query AAAA www.opensuse.org -> no ip returned Query A www.opensuse.org.<local-domain> -> no ip returned Query AAAA www.opensuse.org.<local-domain> -> no ip returned This is wrong, the queries has to look as this: Query AAAA www.opensuse.org no ip returned Query AAAA www.opensuse.org.<local-domain> no ip returned Query A www.opensuse.org IPv4 If I bypass the name resolver for example wget http://130.57.4.24 The queried datas are returned. On other systems, Fedora, Ubuntu, ArchLinux, QNX, MAc OS X, FreeBSD and openSolaris all work perfectly. Jean-Jacaue

Try to disable IPv6 systemwide. That is efficient workaround (if you don't need IPv6). There is bug report about this: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441947 which is marked as duplicate of one that explaines why similar bugs would/could not be fixed for openSUSE 11.1. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-networking+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-networking+help@opensuse.org
