usb bluetooth adapters
Hi, i'm planning to get me some usb bluetooth adaptors, to be used on my laptop and my wife's, on windows vista and opensuse 11.2... my requirement is that they are small enough to be simply left in the usb port, similar to the receivers on new logitech mice. Are there any models/brands that are to be recommended, or to be avoided? bye, MH -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-mobile+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-mobile+help@opensuse.org
Hi Mathias, nothing special. I bought myself two very cheap ones from Reichelt (LogiLink) that perform to my entire satisfaction. The only thing you have to be aware of is the fact that in sleep mode the USB- Supply often is not disconnected (watch whether the LED of an external USB-mouse stays on if connected) thereby making the devices draw power from the battery - not too much, but noticeable. So you might end up removing them every time you send the devices to sleep. Much luck, probably this power on problem does not exist with your notebook, take care Dieter -- ----------------------------------------------------------- | \ /\_/\ | | ~x~ |/-----\ / \ /- \_/ ^^__ _ / _ ____ / <°°__ \- \_/ | |/ | | || || _| _| _| _| if you really want to see the pictures above - use some font with constant spacing like courier! :-) ----------------------------------------------------------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-mobile+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-mobile+help@opensuse.org

Hi Dieter, you can try the rfkill utility that can be found in driver:wireless project for 11.2 [1]. This utility can turn the bt dongle off [2]. If the rfkill works for you then you can create a "hook" to switch the bt dongle off before suspend. Some hints can be found in the package pm-utils. If you want, open a bug report, we can create and test new "hook" together and add it to pm-utils. Hi, I keep a list of adapters I have tested. The most important thing is to check the IDs of the device. HTH. -- -vlado -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-mobile+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-mobile+help@opensuse.org
