Compaq Presario R4000 and ATI Xpress200M; SUSE 9.3
Hi, I'd very much appreciate if someone could tell me any story of success in getting the any of the last two ATI drivers working on a Compaq Presario R4000. These drivers are fglrx64_6_8_0_SUSE93-8.18.6-1.x86_64.rpm and fglrx64_6_8_0_SUSE93-8.16.20-1.x86_64.rpm. Basically, Xorg.0.log and dmesg show the fglrx driver load perfectly (no Error report) but I get a blank screen with no access to any konsole, i.e, ctrl+alt+Fn does not work. It's even worse, though I can ssh to my laptop and su as root, a shutdown does not bring my machine down. The X server keeps suckking all cpu (98%)...Its getting desperate as I need 3D working... I'm using kernel 2.6.11.4-21.9-default on a AMD64. At driverheaven I was told to tune HorizSync and VertRefresh, but I couldn't guess any values that would do the job. Any hint? thanks, __________________________________ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail.yahoo.com
