[opensuse-marketing] Re: [opensuse-ambassadors] About the use of social networks
Well... As I say in the first place, I first had to get away all my encounter feelings to that network. I'm of the ones that think that maybe its not as open as should be, with his privacy problems and stuff, but like Bryen say: "So, if you feel that in your region/market, Facebook works well, GO FOR IT!" Thats exactly the reason why I chose FB for this, because here in my country almost everybody its a heavy user of FB, and its the common way to call for meetings, and just get together. So, my intention its boost openSUSE and GoSVe taking advantage of the platform, because the common use here its to enter on that net at least 4 times per week, or at least that was the result of a quick marketing survey that I did. So, I GO FOR IT! Thank you for your thoughts! :D Cheers! :D -- Alex Barrios ----------------------------------------- Descubre! Disfruta! Very good idea. Are you willing to set up a wiki page with a skeleton, and put info there as it comes up on this list? As andreas mentioned, there was a page with this: http://old-en.opensuse.org/Marketing/SocNet Content can be copied over (if relevant). And Andreas also made http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Social_media_contacts

I don't think it makes sense to have the Twitter user list in the wiki, instead let's add all users to the @openSUSE/contributors twitter list. If any is missing, tell me and I add it. we can also remove the Google Wave list since Google Wave is dead now

I agree. It is really difficult to maintain an up-to-date "users list" in the wiki (and probably not so useful). Please link to an external, dynamic "user list" on the external {twitter/facebook/you name it} service if possible and list only the responsible people (=the people one should contact if something goes wrong) in the wiki.

It is deleted now, thanks for mentioning. Regards, R. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
Dear people, I had once suggested that we add a widget to our sites/blogs, which list recent tweets with the #openSUSE hashtag. However, as my familiarity with the twitter API approaches zero, I couldn't implement the suggestion. Today I came across this wordpress plug-in [1], which, for all practical purposes, performs the same action for a customisable hashtag. Could we not incorporate this into our personal sites as well as on official ones? Also this [2] seems to be a possible solution across multiple . Am trying to use in my blog here [3], but it fails to work suitably. Maybe one of you can offer a better solution. Please point us to alternatives, if any, as I think a centrally standardised widget visible in several places should be a good thing. I don't really know any alternatives myself, but it sounds like a good plan. We can collect the widgets or links on our wiki: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Marketing_materials#.28Micro.29blogging Just add these links here, maybe with some explanation. See if something else comes up or if you can find something - and there might be good artwork too, on our git repository (of which I still have no idea where it is hehe). Cheers, Jos
Hi All, I can work on a widget myself if you would like to, however after the wiki transition is complete and give me a month after that :). That way I can learn too On Sun, 2010-09-05 at 12:12 +0200, Jos Poortvliet wrote:

:) One is here (after some browsing trough Wiki, found kernel git and this): http://gitorious.org/opensuse/ Find in browser (Ctrl-F) found this few: http://gitorious.org/opensuse/art http://gitorious.org/opensuse/software-o-o http://gitorious.org/opensuse/openfate http://gitorious.org/opensuse/webdesign Further, we have some stuff in svn, berlios etc. like: http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/opensuse/ We suppose to have http://svn.opensuse.org , but it redirects to: http://en.opensuse.org/svn.opensuse.org Which leads to empty page. Which leads to thoughts that next time someone links to wiki some important part of infrastructure, it should use announce list to tell that, or even better, before announcement, to come on the opensuse-wiki list and ask for opinion how to create title. BTW, IRC as chat is not documented anywhere, so no one that comes after can have idea what was done. This one needs transfer and update, or it can be already transferred to some other article and updated. http://old-en.opensuse.org/Svn.opensuse.org From unrelated wiki article to Localization guide to http://developer.berlios.de/ and few related projects: http://developer.berlios.de/projects/opensuse-doc/ http://developer.berlios.de/projects/opensuse-i18n/ http://developer.berlios.de/projects/opensuse-style/ http://developer.berlios.de/projects/opensuse-man-ja/ (What would we do without centralized place for our code and artwork, like this email post :-) -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
