Re: [opensuse-marketing] Marketing Materials - "Virtual Eventkit"
** Reply Requested by 6/16/2010 (Wednesday) ** Well done AJ. I believe this initiative will allow us to be more synchronized with our openSUSE project peers.

we have created for Linuxtag last week a couple of documents, e.g. a one page flyer about openSUSE and the conference and I'd like to make these available on a broader basis and also get them translated for ambassadors to use. I'd like to have a kind of "Virtual Eventkit" for us. I think not only me but all others ambassadors are anxious to get hands on that material to start localize to our home language. After that my sugestion is to publish translated materials on home basis, I mean, In Brazil and I believe in all countries, have some small linux communities groups, maybe not big ones but tousands of little ones, we must make our translated materials available to this groups, also ambassadors blogs, facebooks, ....
How should we do this? Are you taking about some possible tools to make us able to provide theis materials? or a way to spread the message? I know Novell have a partnership with Eluminate and Webex. Maybe we can use that infra-structure to help us. What do you think? You can create a video blog explaining the entire idea about "Virtual Eventkit" also how to use it then publish in our http://opensuse.blip.tv/
What about creating a git repository and adding the stuff there - and linking from our Marketing pages to the repository? could be

I'm asking how to make the material available.

Not sure right now - I'd like to use infrastructure that is open for every ambassador to use. Not sure how e.g. video conferencing will help us with a virtual eventkit.

giving some directives of how *name* some documents to make them available through google. members, at least, should be allowed to upload flyers (as otd)

complete videotaping conferences is the worst way. Really boring! Video *have* to be specially made for spreading. Depends on the target audience ;-) If you want videos to be spread, then of course those made specially for the web are better. OTOH, I often watch conference videos if I could not visit the conference. Those videos have a limited audience, but are still useful for people who are interested in a specific topic/talk. Would be nice to keep these original and translated documents on the new opensuse wiki available for everybody around the world because it does eliminate duplicated documents everywhere.
How should we do this?
Are you taking about some possible tools to make us able to provide theis materials? or a way to spread the message?
I'm asking how to make the material available.
IMO. Slides presentations, flyers and documents.odt could help better than videos showing only the presenter. We do not need videos on the presenter centered but showing what these guys are talking about. I think it will be a better way to transfer the know-how to others.

Videos, slides presentations with notes and/or text documents will increase the understanding beyond the inner circle.
Yes, that and youtube we can use for sure.
In this case we need a link from the main opensuse page or wiki to make it easier available.
What about creating a git repository and adding the stuff there - and

That's would be something very useful. Wiki can store files that are useful for presentations, but some of them will not be displayed properly, if at all. ...

One of problems that is almost omnipresent with video recordings. Wrong recording subject focus as you mentioned plus bad audio from last row with camera microphone. It would be really good to put far more work in post recording process, ie. video editing part. but that would probably mean that you need tone that will follow presentation and that will not work without original presenter cooperation. ... -- Regards Rajko, -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

it simply means making video recording important in our goals. Having a mike on the desk or a lavalier mike on the speaker is easy and cheap. we should also have some standard for final video format (achieving a quality/size ratio) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-support-the-Linux-Documentation-Project/3720... http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-fan-page-of-Claire-Dodin/106485119372062?v... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

It is even better to record presentation that is not based on live event.

That too. Current instruction on the wiki are more then rudimentary explanation how to have any publishable file. -- Regards Rajko, -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

I was thinking if recording audio directly from the presenter (closer to the microphone) meanwhile showing the slides or the recorded video making a demo synchronized. For translations easiness keeping audio from video separated or editable. An instance like Open Office Impress application with audio and/or video inserted or an Open Office Impress presentation converted to video. Make it available for everyone sorted by categories (install, configuration, features, marketing, ambassador, etc.) Improving the the instructions on the wiki explaining how to have any file presentation published with some standards and formats, resolution, size; and a few post production procedures to make an easy and effective presentation (editing tips) -- Ricardo Chung a.k.a. amonthoth openSUSE Ambassador for Panama http://en.opensuse.org/User:Amonthoth http://es.opensuse.org/Usuario:Amonthoth http://twitter.com/amon0thoth1 http://www.opensuse.org/en/ http://es.opensuse.org/Grupos_Locales_de_Usuarios -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
