[opensuse-marketing] Clearing out 11.1 openSUSE DVDs
Hi all,
We have a fair amount of openSUSE 11.1 DVDs in stock that we want to
clear out before 11.2.
If you have a way to distribute these, please let me know. I'm
especially interested in sending to schools and organizations with a
lot of users.
Want some DVDs? Send me an email with the following:
Subject: openSUSE 11.1 DVDs for [Name] [Organization]
That is - something like: openSUSE 11.1 DVDs for Joe Brockmeier: Novell
Also:
Address, including postal code
Phone number for shipping address
Number of DVDs requested
The default will be 100 DVDs. If you need more, ask. Please, no
personal ("I'd like a DVD, thanks!") requests.
Thanks!
Zonker

While obviously if we're promoting openSUSE, we'd want to encourage people to try the latest and greatest. But at the same time, we don't want our existing stock to become useless coasters. And no doubt, we'll continue to have this problem with each new release, especially now that it is down to a fixed 8-month cycle. I wonder if it might be a good idea if we created a tasteful sticker that can be affixed to existing 11.1 sleeves which outlined the very simple steps we now have for doing in-place upgrades to 11.2? Just a quick thought that popped into my mind. -- Bryen Yunashko openSUSE Board Member GNOME-A11y Team Member www.bryen.com (Personal Blog) www.planet-a11y.net (Feed aggregator of the Accessibility Community) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

We'll have less of one with this release as I'm ordering fewer discs. If we *have to we can reorder discs mid-cycle, but I don't think we'll have to. If we do, it's a good problem to have. BTW - I'm going to be ordering dual-sided media with 64-bit & 32-bit on them. Also will look at doing a limited pressing of live CDs for GNOME & KDE so the respective projects can hand them out at events.
I wonder if it might be a good idea if we created a tasteful sticker that can be affixed to existing 11.1 sleeves which outlined the very simple steps we now have for doing in-place upgrades to 11.2?
Printing the sticker, not a bad idea -- but who will affix all of them? ;-)
Best,
Zonker

Hit send too soon -- better long-term solution is to go ahead and just
print on the sleeve the instructions for updating.

Just send the stack of stickers along with the existing media you have to whomever and let them do the job. :-) Or maybe have one of your secretaries do it? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
