This will probably be a first time that openSUSE Education project will follow up with Li-f-e release: wholesome openSUSE 11.2 :) Draft of that announcement here: http://lizards.opensuse.org/?p=2380&preview=true Wholesome because it includes KDE+GNOME+Sugar, multimedia, tons of Educational, development and other useful applications, all in 2.8G iso. May be a word on what users can look forward to can be added to 11.2 announcement mentioning this development. Cheers -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
Any mention of Sugar in openSUSE release PR will be greatly appreciated.
We believe the education segment has lots of promise for GNU/Linux.
At Sugar Labs we recently celebrated two "magic million numbers": a
million OLPC XO-1 laptops distributed, 99% of which run Sugar; and a
million downloads of Activities for children from our portal
(http://activities.sugarlabs.org).
thanks
Sean
Sugar Labs Marketing Coordinator
P.S. Several of us are in Bolzano at the Gnome hackfest this week.

Good idea, openSUSE 11.2 is probably only Linux distribution which has the very latest(updated almost weekly) Sugar available in oBS repository, Sugar 0.86.3 will be included in openSUSE-Edu Li-f-e DVD. This will probably be a first time that openSUSE Education project will follow up with Li-f-e release: wholesome openSUSE 11.2 :)
When you say "follow up," do you mean immediately or a few days later?
Draft of that announcement here: http://lizards.opensuse.org/?p=2380&preview=true
Could you post this to the wiki, please? We can't see it here unless we have a lizards login.

Nice. :-)
May be a word on what users can look forward to can be added to 11.2 announcement mentioning this development.
If it's going to be close to the release, please do add it to the 11.2
announcement. Just go ahead and add it to the announcement in the
wiki, please.
Thanks!

Aim is to release immediately, or at least in couple of days after 11.2 release. Image based on RC2+ is already available, I am building an image based on GM at the moment, if everything looks good we will have simultaneous release.

I am not very good with words, working on life announcement for over two weeks, still not done, still will try to add a couple of lines, you can then make edits :) Cheers -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

That's fine. :-) I will definitely edit the finished product before
putting up on news.o.o.
BTW -- if you're looking for help with announcements, I'm sure folks
on the marketing list would be happy to help out. That's what we're
here for. :-D

Yes, I was tired & working on the GNOME Sneak Peek as well. :-) Don't read anything into it. :-) More screenshots appreciated, btw.

OK, please feel free to add that. That's why I put it in the wiki! :-D

Sorry, yes - of course. I didn't add the images here because it's not
in the news.o.o backend. Any suggestions here for specific screenshots
appreciated as well. :-)

Candidate screenshots IMO are: - http://en.opensuse.org/Image:OS11.2RC2-kde-greeter.png (or http://en.opensuse.org/Image:OS11.2M7-Cashew-KDE.png ) - http://en.opensuse.org/Image:112m8DesktopMenu.png - http://en.opensuse.org/Image:OS11.2RC2-yast2-control-center-qt.png Why these suggested KDE and GNOME pics: just keep it simple! Unfortunately I'm having issue with Goblin building on 11.2, we're too new for the Moblin 2.0 codebase and there are some issues getting the latest upstream tree imported at the minute. OK. That's OK, it gives us something to announce after the 11.2 release. :-)
Can you give us a hint about how long after?
More importantly, we're looking forward to putting Goblin on our netbooks!!!!
Thanks for all your hard work on this, BTW.

Was the install DVD not supposed to be dual layer, with 64 bit on one side and 32 on the other? It is not mentioned here.
It is - but that's physical media, not the download. :-) Since we only
give out the promo DVD at events, etc., it's probably not something to
mention in the release announcement that goes to everybody...

Might there be a way for the ambasadors to download it to be able to make
media to give out till the real pressed ones become available. I ask
because I have a small party on the 13th and a larger meeting to present
openSUSE to a group of 35-49 confirmed for the event on 20 Nov. I have
1.5 hours to fill with my presentation and possible installs. The will
only consist of my presentation and any media I may be able to hand out
and doing installs for those that want assistence installing it.
Thanks,
