Hi community members, A brief report about what was happen last week at Universidad Latina, Facultad de Ingeniería. “LibreSoft” Event. On July 1st., 2010 from 6:00 p.m. To 10:30 p.m. (- 5 EST) several FOSS individual representatives held a meeting on 3rd floor of the main building, gave some talks about FOSS, software developments (Python), open source, licensing, sharing code, community contributions, and applications to the general public, Telecommunications and Industrial Engineering students, professors, dean and some lawyers. OpenSUSE Ambassador, Ricardo Chung, shared the space with Diego Tejera (Ubuntu LoCo Team), Alejandro Perez ( Fedora Ambassador ), Abdel Martinez ( Fedora Campus Ambassador), Adrien Scott ( www.fosdev.com) and others. Ricardo gave a talk about openSUSE 11.2 features and some sneak preview features on openSUSE 11.3 (http://en.opensuse.org/Product_highlights_11.3), the openSUSE Build Service 2.0 ( http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service) as software development and collaboration platform useful for any Linux distribution, SUSE Studio to customize our distribution on different environments, and KIWI to make an operating system image available on physical media (http://en.opensuse.org/Kiwi ). Ricardo also, answer some questions about openSUSE community and local users group, installation, as well as some questions about Novell and Microsoft alliances were clarified. After the talk an openSUSE and Novell trivia was given and the winners got some openSUSE 11.2 CDs with Gnome Desktop by default. It needs more content and maybe some cleanup. http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:11.3 We need all from scratch. Help docs for editing Portal pages will be added to the rest of the help pages as time permits. For now, if basic instructions below don't answer your questions, just ask. Basic is that content is added or edited in subpages using Edit link on the top right side of frame title line. Example: http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:11.2 Frame title: Related portals link edit Click edit and it will open http://wiki.opensuse.org/index.php?title=Portal:11.2/Related_portals&action… Do changes. Check how it looks like with "Show preview" button under the edit field. When satisfied, click "Save page" button. Saved page is now: http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:11.2/Related_portals You can see that is not the actual portal page. Click on link Portal:11.2 and you will be back to the: http://wiki.opensuse.org/Portal:11.2 Check layout of portal pages. New content should not go out of the frame, or garble the Portal page in any way. When all is done, please report here, so that someone from wiki team can review changes and approve them for publishing. [opensuse-marketing] Ohio Booth Masters needed

The Ohio Linux Fest is in Columbus, Ohio September 10-12. While we have some possible submissions for presentations currently awaiting acceptance, we also need to get some people to volunteer to man an openSUSE Booth. If you are in the Ohio area or a nearby state, please volunteer to help spread the good word of openSUSE. Hotel rates at the nearby Drury is $99, and if you split up with others, then it gets much cheaper. Room can accommodate up to 4 people. Let us know if you can do this so we can make the preparations for a booth. Thanks!
