Moin, i just tried to put in the wiki the draft of the 11.3 launch plan. Hmm, where to put it? Old or new wiki? I guess here the answer is pretty clear - new wiki, right? [opensuse-marketing] Marketing Team Strategy

Hi Team! As you know, the openSUSE Board got together in Nuremberg to discuss the general strategy plans for openSUSE for the long-term future. While there in Nuremberg for one extra day, some of us who are part of the Marketing Team got together for additional discussions around moving Marketing Team forward. Those present were: Myself, AJ, Jan Weber, Michael Loeffler and Will Stephenson. Here our our thoughts: Our first thought is that we have many things to do, but too few human resources to implement things out effectively for short therm campaigns. As a result, it becomes harder for contributors to figure out how and where to contribute where they feel most comfortable. Our second thought is looking at ways to go beyond just focusing on marketing campaigns for imeediate releases. We want to find ways to help communicate what openSUSE is all about and even help to dispel some of the misconceptions that exist about openSUSE in the world. And our third thought is to focus on how we can develop the skills of our existing team membes to be able to more broadly handle marketing tasks as well as how best to attract new talent to the marketing team. We recognize that many people have good specialties within Marketing but we want to empower our team members to be able to broaden their marketing skills and identify what areas they can personally strengthen. And finally, we agree that one major problem that exists now is that we are all taking on too many tasks. This leads to burn-out and poor quality of work. Today we created new template that is meant to create header of weekly news with relative clean way to change content: http://wiki.opensuse.org/Template:Weekly_news_header and http://wiki.opensuse.org/Weekly_news is the first issue that is using new template. The main reason for change was extremely large table of content that is created automatically, forcing readers to scroll a lot before they can see actual content. The table was a bigger problem then scrolling, as it mixed almost never changing main sections with article titles that are different in each issue. To avoid this we created relative small content index on the right side pointing to the main Weekly news sections. In effect it is similar to real paper news where we can jump to the content we like by selecting second, middle, or last page without need to read all articles along the way. The new index is actually better then its paper relatives, as it will bring up exact section that we want to read, like newspaper with colored page edge. [opensuse-marketing] Manual/Paper of basic use/introduction to Linux/openSUSE?

Hi people. I'm gonna give classes of Introduction to Linux using openSUSE, but before I start doing a manual from scratch I'm wondering if there is any recommended manual or paper that I can use ? If its in english I could translate to spanish an make the translation available. Of course, if dont, i will make one, and then put the english translation online.
