MuktiNarrow is a sans-serif, while Likhan will be a serif font.
OK, I added these to the fontconfig rules to be the fontconfig setup
to be prefered in Bengali locales. Packages for SuSE Linux 9.1 are here:

ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/src/fontconfig-2.2.96.20040728-2.1.src.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/x86_64/fontconfig-2.2.96.20040728-2.1.x86_64.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/m17n/9.1/x86_64/fontconfig-devel-2.2.96.20040728-2.1.x86_64.rpm
By the way, if Likhan is a serif font, shouldn't it also use serif
glyphs for the Latin alphabet? Currently Likhan has sans-serif glyphs
for the Latin alphabet.
