Hi,
for fulfilling https://features.opensuse.org/307588 it is needed that openSUSE Kernel gets patched with upstream patch:
commit d5f3c90d4f3ad6b054f9855b7b69137b97bda131 Author: Marcin Ko??cielnicki
Date: Thu Feb 25 00:54:02 2010 +0000 drm/nv50: Implement ctxprog/state generation. This removes dependence on external firmware for NV50 generation cards. If the generated ctxprogs don't work for you for some reason, please report it. Signed-off-by: Marcin Ko??cielnicki Signed-off-by: Ben Skeggs Discussion started ...
This will get pulled in with the next kernel update, so no changes needed here.
factory will have it soon.
Well that's something we should probably discuss. This was part of 2.6.34-rc1 and the 11.3 release schedule puts RC1 pretty much exactly where 2.6.34-final should be. If we get a lot of testing in with 2.6.34-rc's then it's doable but tight.

Linux 2.6.33 release: 24 Feb 2010 Development circle: ~90 days Linux 2.6.34 release: ~25 May 2010 openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 7: 21 May 2010 openSUSE 11.3 RC1: 17 Jun 2010 openSUSE 11.3 Final: 15 Jul 2010 I think we should deliver openSUSE 11.3 with Kernel 2.6.34. As Jeff said we should also deliver all 2.6.34-rc's for more testing. Kernel modesetting for AMD/ATI hardware would also be great ... Thanks for the commit reference. > Btw. when can we "see" a kernel-*-2.6.34-rc* in Kernel:HEAD? I don't typically merge a new kernel into Factory until it reaches -rc2 or -rc3. So, in the next few weeks. In the interim, the v2.6.34 branch should appear later today at http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/. I'm working out the last of the build failures now. - -Jeff - -- Jeff Mahoney SUSE Labs -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.14 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkuYC4cACgkQLPWxlyuTD7L5XACeN91cuylh4MGWTHw2a55Yb/BG vfYAnjdrFu2NjhK3G9dl9JElB0gVHdeJ =ODu0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

KMS supported XOrg driver is in Factory:
There is some kind of "support". It does not mean that it works or is even usable ;-)
http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/opensuse-commit/2010-03/msg00252.html
So please set: CONFIG_DRM_RADEON_KMS=y
You can also simply load radeon with modprobe radeon modeset=1 if you really are so adventurous to try this out. -- Stefan Seyfried "Any ideas, John?" It needs booting into 3 without radeon (or with unloading radeon). And without fb of course. Easier solution may be just to add radeon.modeset=1 in GRUB :) -- Rafał -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org
