[opensuse-kernel] problems with iwlagn on X200s under kernel 2.6.27
Hi, I have often a problem with the wireless driver iwlagn after wakeup from standby: When i attempt to connect to a wireless network, it very often results in the machine hanging: I can see that the root process event/1 consumes 100% computation time and keyboard input does not work anymore. All I can do is turn off the machine using the powerbutton. Sometimes, the HW-switch for the wireless manages to shut down the wireless driver, which also stops the event/1 process from using 100% computation time. Then, a rmmod and modprobe of iwlagn _sometimes_ helps. This concerns the X200s, opensuse and kernel 2.6.27. It seems to me that my problem is the same as in http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1832 And I can confirm comment #26. Has anyone observed this, too? are there any solutions by now? thanks in advance, Volker -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

Which specific 2.6.27 kernel? I say this as we have fixed some iwlagn driver issues very recently (last week), so if you could verify that the kernel in the kernel-of-the-day still has these problems (or not), and let us know, that would be great. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

Hi Greg, I should have said this, sorry: This problem happens with 2.6.27.7-9 as well as with 2.6.27.17-9. The kernel 2.6.27.17-9 I have downloaded last friday from the http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel: branch, and I compiled it locally as a 64bit kernel. My wireless card is the iwl5300ABGN (gets recognized as iwl5100) thanks in advance, Volker -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

Uops: I have kernel 2.6.27.17-2(!!) not 2.6.27.17-9... sorry for the mixup -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

Hi, thanks for the help so far. I have never filed a bug report and it will take me some time to read through the docs and collect the necessary debug-information. This will happen probably only later this week. please take my apology for this delay. best, Volker Greg KH wrote:

You might try a kernel from 11.1 branch Either http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/SL111_BRANCH/openSUSE_11.1... or http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/SL111_BRANCH/ . -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org
