[opensuse-kernel] proc/<pid>/stat timestamp will not be altered

Hi, I'm trying to readout some load values out of the /proc/<pid>/stat file. As I want to do this only when there were some values changed I do a fstat beforehand on this file to check the modification time. Unfortunatelly, this value never changed even I this file was altered (it is working systems with kernel 2.4). I've tested it on several 2.6 kernels. So, is it possible to enable the "timestamping" for procfs (again) or do you now some workaround how I can check if some values has been changed without parsing the stat-file it every time. [opensuse-kernel] kvm broken in current factory?

Just tried to boot the current NET Media (openSUSE-NET-x86_64-Build0265- Media.iso - same result with the i586 one) on my Intel Laptop with kvm and it stops very early, last line on the console is (see also appended screenshot): CPU0: Intel QEMU Virtual CPU version 0.10.50 stepping 03 Any ideas what's wrong? Does it work for others? Btw. I had to unset MALLO_CHECK_ first, otherwise qemu would crash (I opened a bug for that already). Dear Dennis, Marcus, & Greg, Thank you very much for kind help and advises. Finally I succeed to compile my "own style" Kernel 2.6.30.5 for SuSE 11.1. I did a "hybrid" trick of .config that use my favorite setting and the CPU section I pick from OpenSuSE stock setting. It runs as I expected. Dear List, I want to compile kernel 2.6.30.5 in openSuSE 11.1 to be able to use multicore of Intel Q8200. Here is my options: CONFIG_SMP=y CONFIG_MCORE2=y CONFIG_NR_CPUS=4 CONFIG_SCHED_SMT=y CONFIG_SCHED_MC=y CONFIG_PREEMPT_NONE=y **** make make modules_install make install **** But kernel seems did not recognize the setting I choose. Need advise what wrong I made. Hi, this seemingly illogical choice in Kernel:/HEAD/kernel-source-rt.src.rpm's config/*/* is puzzling, or just wrong. $ diff -dpru config/i386/{default,pae} (some happens on config/{i386,x86_64}/default) -CONFIG_X86_MSR=m -CONFIG_X86_CPUID=m +CONFIG_X86_MSR=y +CONFIG_X86_CPUID=y -CONFIG_IPV6=m +CONFIG_IPV6=y -CONFIG_LIB80211=m +CONFIG_LIB80211=y -CONFIG_ATA=m +CONFIG_ATA=y Just what is the purpose of doing that for the PAE/x64 config?
