Re: [suse-kde] usbmount ?
--- Alvin Beach
I find this happens for me when I bootup with my thumbdrive in the USB port. If I remove and reinsert it, then it auto mounts.
If that doesn't work, check /etc/fstab and see if there is an entry for it. Also check /media (I have SuSE 9.1 Pro). If you see something like:
usb-storage-odd-GENERIC-USBMassStorage:0:0:0p1
Unluckely there is not an entry in /etc/fstab, I checked that as well because I knew that if it was there I could have just mounted it with the mount command
Then do:
mount
/media/usb-storage-odd-GENERIC-USBMassStorage:0:0:0p1
Actually there is a /media/usb-storage-odd-GENERIC-USBMassStorage:0:0:0p6 directory (probably created when the system automagically mounted the device, but not having an fstab entry the system does not know what to mount there. FYI I'm using Suse 9.2 and KDE 3.4. If I run Yast2 system information part, I'm able to see the device (SCSI address 6) in the USB mass storage section but dunno how to mount. As mentioned I also see a message in /var/log?messages every time I plug/unplug it... any suggestion on how to solve it? thanks, Timur Discover Yahoo! There seem to be some strange things going on there. A friend of mine has reported that a USB key (I could not get the exact brand, but it says "samsung inside" on it) works with 9.1 but doesn't mount anymore on 9.2, and I can't figure out what might have changed between the two releases.....
