[opensuse-kde] Programs run in All Activities since zypper patch
I ran zypper patch today, logged out and in again, and now find that every program I start is running in All Activities. The right click Activities menu on the program title bar has a tick (checkmark) against All Activities, but left clicking on one of the Activities listed below has no effect. Are you running off the standard repositories only? Because I wonder if this is fixed by 4.9.3. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

I'm getting my KDE stuff from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/49/openSUSE_12.2/ I'll try upgrading to 4.9.3, although Activities were working fine in 4.9.2 until I ran zypper patch this morning. Bob
Hmm, that reeks of wrong priorities for the repos.
The command "zypper lr -P" gives you the list of repositories on
your system.
Take notice of the column "Priority" (should be the last)
The lower the number the higher the priority the repo is given
during install or update.
E.g. the DVD-source is given prio 99, the repo-update is given
a higher prio, say 98.
Now your KDE-Rel49-repo should have either 98 or even lower (97).
This is to ensure you will get the packages from KDE-Rel49-repo,
if there where packages of the same "name" in the update-repo.
That way "zypper patch" can't hurt your KDE-from-Rel49 install
anymore.
To change the prio, use the command:
"zypper mr -p [number]

Correct. All my repos had a priority of 99. I've now changed that. 'zypper patch' would not update stuff from unsupported OBS repos. Only install official patches. You must have ran 'zypper up' or 'zypper dup' or something else. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Nope. Definitely 'zypper patch'. I can remember doing this as I wanted to limit traffic through my ISP as I am near my monthly limit. Later, I _did_ update KR49 to 4.9.3 via Yast, and it updated about 134 files, which wouldn't be the case if I'd just done a zypper [d]up. I don't know what you are thinking, but this statement is incorrect. I just udated to 4.9.3 via zypper dup and had about the same number of file updated. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. As I said earlier in the thread, I ran zypper patch first thing in the morning. Martin suggested that I was mistaken, and that I must have actually done a zypper up or zypper dup. Later, using YaST, I selected the KDE49 repo, right clicked on a file and chose update all in this list if newer version. 134 files came down the line. With me so far? Good. If I had earlier done zypper dup rather than zypper patch, then YaST would not have offered anything to upgrade in the KDE49 repo as it would all have been up to date at that time. Correct me if my logic is wrong.
