[opensuse-kde] KDE 4.0.66: Good stuff, two questions (Konq plugins and KDED)
After many repeated attempts at trying to get kde UNSTABLE running on my desktop, the latest packages I've installed run very well. So well, in fact, that I'm going to try and use this as my regular desktop, so kudos to the team. The only real issues I've found that cause stability issues basically involve changing desktop settings, it seems that trying to change appearance or kwin effects pretty much causes a hard crash for Xorg, but given that plasma and related components are in a state of flux, I'm taking that in stride. Two immediate questions, though. a) KDED doesn't seem to start automatically. I need to start it manually from a konsole window. I only noticed this when I realized that websites weren't recognizing my logins, and investigation determined that the cookie service wasn't running, which led to discovering the KDED wasn't running. Is there something particular I should look at in the settings or rc files? This was an upgrade from KDE 4.0.3, so maybe there's something in my old .kde4 folder causing problems? Not sure how to troubleshoot. b) Is there plug-in support for Konq? I don't even have the Browser Plugins option in Settings -> Configure Konqueror. Is this intentional, a work-in-progress, or maybe indirectly related to the problem above? Thanks in advance for any input... I remember that this was an upstream bug. it should be fixed in 4.0.67 which is going to sync out (has already synced out?) today.
