[opensuse-kde] kmail 4.9pre pauses opening messages
I have just upgraded my kde to the latest unstable and have 4.9pre version of kmail. However, I have a little problem with this version of kmail. Whenever I click on a message on my imap server (cyrus) kmail seems to pause for many seconds and shows the retrieving message in the preview pane. Hovering over the message subject in the mail list shows a tooltip with the first part of the message. but the preview pane and windows will not open allowing me to read the messages. This issue makes no difference if I have already loaded the message previously nor if it is a local maildir folder and not an imap server. I have also removed the akondi .local/share/akondi folder and rebuilt it but no change. Trying to send this shows that it will also not send emails either with the compose window greyed - I have had to switch to claws atm If anyone has any ideas how to resolve this non-functional version of kmail (or is it akondi) then please let me know Many thanks Andrew -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Well, report the bug on http://bugs.kde.org and wait for it to get fixed. 4.9 isn't even in beta phase, yet. It is completely unsupported (esp. by openSUSE because if I calculate the release cycles roughly right, there won't ever ship an openSUSE version with 4.9 -- oS 12.3 should ship with KR 4.10). Until then you should be able to downgrade the individual packages to 4.8. This worked for the last release cycle where I opted to use Kontact 4.4.10 instead. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Nope this is from the opensuse repo not upstream. It annoumces itself as 4.9pre in tha about kmail dialogue and is really 4.8.3.

I have always used the unstable as it is my duty to help forward mankind and not live in the past. When i look in the akonadiconsole and use the browser the messages take a long time to appear here so this looks more like it is akonadi that is the issue. Anyone got any views on this. I'm beginning to wonder if it is an index issue on the database with the queries doing full table scans as it is fast to read all the messages on a full sync A -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Nope this is from the opensuse repo not upstream. So? openSUSE is not the developer. KDE is.

Can't be. I use 4.8.3 and it clearly says so in the About window. You obviously use the UNSTABLE repo which is not supported by openSUSE (nothing besides the main repo is). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Markus - not very helpful. I said all along in every message that it was from unstable........... this is a kde mailing list about help with using kde on opensuse not just the main repo which for my 11.4 was 4.5.5 if i remember correctly... I have fixed the issue see below.... Not you Markus as you dont use anything other that the repo that comes with the distribution clearly.... ;-) Anyway I managed to resolve the issue by removing .kde4 .config/akonadi .local/share/akonadi. I tried .local alone but it didnt help so just went the whole way and removed it all Andrew -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I can get that when accessing an email in a Mail folder that belonged to the Kmail 1, seems like Kmail2 has problems interpreting/accessing Kmail1 messages in kmail2. I have to kill kmail2 to get out of that situation.
Hovering over the message subject in the mail list shows a tooltip with the first part of the message. but the preview pane and windows will not open allowing me to read the messages.
