I got accurately the same problem... ...an no solution. Tried out several different configure options without any success. Help would be beyond price cause I don't wanna fall back to an earlier KDE-Version. Regards H. Auschner

I've noticed this issue on my 9.0 install at work but it doesn't occur on my 8.2 install at home. I've yet to figure out why this is. Both have version 3.1.95 installed. I'd also be curious to what the fix is. -- Linux User #147972 ---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org -- "There is no need to teach that stars can fall out of the sky and land on a flat Earth in order to defend religious faith."

Moin! I have this problem too but if I am not mistaken this did not happen for me when installing kde 3.2 RC1, as I compiled k3b after that but after updating to build 7 of the kdelibs from the suse suppl. server. No solution either, had a thread on this in SLE but got no answers. Sven
I found this in a recent [SLE] thread:
Just thought I should mention something about the latest SuSE build of kdelibs3 on their mirrors. I ran into an odd problem last evening when trying to set/check some of the sounds in kcontrol center. Kcontrol would Sig 11 each time I tried to go into the system notifications module. Trying with root produced the same effect, plus I noticed that root items, file manager, etc were glittered with color blotches. Even after logging in as root in KDE the same problems existed.
So my guess that build 7 of the kdelibs is the problems corroborates. Sven

I suspect this is the problem as well. I hadn't compiled anything since updating to -7 build, so can't say for certain. The sound problem was just a fluke for me, but since I use root file manager sometimes, the colored blotches stood out! If you guys can get the -4 build to reinstall, I think your problems will disappear. You may also be able to rebuild from src the -7 build and fix that. I tried to rebuild the package, however I cannot find the rpm. in /usr/src/packages as root I used rpmbuild --rebuild /home/rabauke/Desktop/kdelibs3-3.1.95-7.src.rpm and get some error messages, that althogh I did bot think so seem to be important. user abuild does not exist - using root group abuild does not exist - using root File not found by glob: /var/tmp/kdelibs3-3.1.95-build/opt/kde3/bin/cupsd* File not found: /var/tmp/kdelibs3-3.1.95-build/opt/kde3/bin/make_driver_db_cups File not found by glob: /var/tmp/kdelibs3-3.1.95-build/opt/kde3/lib/kde3/kdeprint_cups.* File not found by glob: /var/tmp/kdelibs3-3.1.95-build/opt/kde3/lib/libcupsdconf.* File not found by glob: /var/tmp/kdelibs3-3.1.95-build/opt/kde3/share/apps/kdeprint/cups* File not found: /var/tmp/kdelibs3-3.1.95-build/opt/kde3/share/apps/kdeprint/kde_logo.png File not found: /var/tmp/kdelibs3-3.1.95-build/opt/kde3/share/apps/kdeprint/plugins/cups.print File not found by glob: /var/tmp/kdelibs3-3.1.95-build/opt/kde3/share/apps/kdeprint/preview* I'll try the -4 buuild now, as I did not succeed, was my first try though! While compile and installing the kdelibs source adds some extensions to QT and enhances the librarypath in the qtrc files with, for example, /opr/kde3/lib/kde3/plugins/. This part is missing for You and normally I would say that You need to recompile kdelibs, but here I think that the kdelibs RPM is broken or needs a reinstall. Moin, I already tried to re-install kdelibs and devel packages several times but it did not help, did not try build 4 though. I am now rebuilding the rpm from src.rpm and will see if that helps. Sven
