[opensuse-kde] K:D:F and HAL
Currently HAL causes problems for K:D:F. Particularly, the device notifier always displays 2 copies of every device. Might it be a good idea, to prevent confusion amongst users, to make the current version of KDE (either kdelibs or kdebase) obseletes HAL so this doesn't happen? It is not a big deal now since it is mostly early adopters, but will become a problem down the road. -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Hi Todd, The required changes already happened in 4.6 trunk, which would mean that the next 4.6 Beta or RC1 will resolve this issue. With a standard installation KDE will prefer the new udev/upower/udisk backends and no longer touch HAL. However based on an environment variable you can switch to HAL. But either way only 1 backend type will be active during the KDE session, which should resolve the issues of double entries for mountpoints, batteries, etc. So best thing would be to wait a little longer and your issue would be resolved.
