[opensuse-kde] please remove plasma-addons scim dependency
Could someone please remove the scim dependency of plasma-addons in factory? I can understand making plasma-addons-scim available if someone wants it, but I think requiring it, and by extension scim, is an extremely bad idea. Considering scim automatically turns itself on upon installation, cannot be turned off in any sane manner, has the annoying bar that covers other windows by default, can extremely easily trigger language changes accidentally without warning and without any obvious way to change it back, and has the terrible habit of randomly blocking keyboard keys for no apparent reason, I don't think making it a mandatory dependency of a common and practically necessary kde package like plasma-addons is at all a good choice. Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

+1 also In a perfect world, there would be an rpmlint check to ensure no desktop package had a hard dependency on an input method. I would not call it evil, but something close. :-) On the other hand, if you need confirmation, look at Launchpad for several example of KDE/QT brokeness from Ubuntu.... Can't every Plasmoid there be a single package? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

It was a packaging mistake, the split of the scim-dependant stuff to -scim wasn't complete. -- Lubos Lunak KDE developer -------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org Lihovarska 1060/12 tel: +420 284 084 672 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
