I had to update to 303 since my wife was making fun of my machine and criticizing for Konqueror webbrowser to hang up frequently. I witnessed Konqueror hanging up twice in about 20 minutes. Don't know what kinda sites she was visiting. Some shopping ones. Don't know if 30e would fix these problems. Ironically the MOST stable version of KDE has been 3.0.0 (the one that comes with SuSE 8.0 Pro CDs.) Konqueror still crashes after doing a Find File (yes after the 303 update). Things are much more stable on my work PC that hasn't had any update done since I installed SuSE on it. Salman

been there, haven't seen it?

ok, some of the 'web designers' (insert random utter contempt code here) deserver to be shot. twice. with bullets with the inscription "there are other web browsers than IE".

Sorry again, but I have to disagree. on my box, 3.0.2 is rock solid. Some web pages don't render right, but when I look at those pages' DOM tree or the W3C validator results it's a miracle that they render at all...

no comment. haven't used the KDE find file tool... Alt-F2 and entering xterm, then using find or locate usually works for me... bye, [L]
BTW, I hate to admit this but the rock solid OS at work for me has been Windows 2000 Pro. KDE3 has crashed on me a few times...Windows 2000 never has :-( Salman

Well, there are some sites that don't understand the useragent string that KDE gives when the server requests it. When a server doesn't grasp what browser your using it can throw Netscape 3.X code at you which can sometimes play havok with Konq. You might try using Mozilla on these sites. I've been using Mozilla since 0.6.0 and the experience has become better with each release. Just because Konq is part of KDE3.X doesn't mean it must be used. Give one of the other 6 browsers for Linux a shot. :) Cheers! * Salman Khilji (skhilji@tampabay.rr.com) [020819 15:57]: ::BTW, I hate to admit this but the rock solid OS at work for me has been ::Windows 2000 Pro. :: ::KDE3 has crashed on me a few times...Windows 2000 never has :-( -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--
I gave Mozilla a chance a while ago. and I must agree that it was better than Konq!! Even Netscape 6.x can open sites that Konq can't. I don't know why I use Konq! Maybe its installed by default and sometimes I feel lazy to install the others. Or maybe Konq looks more or less a KDE app. One thing that made me uninstall Netscape was that apt was complaining about some dependency problem for as long as I had Netscape. So I got rid of it. Although I don' t have apt anymore since I reformatted my hard drive. Salman On Monday 19 August 2002 18:22, Ben Rosenberg wrote:

anyone seen kde3.0.3 rpms for suse yet?
There are rpms for 3.0.3 in the supplementary directory at ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE We may see something in YOU before long, considering that 3.0.3 contains a security fix, but so far I haven't seen anything there. //Anders -- 'Deserves [death]. Well, apt just pulled down about 90M of update packages for KDE 3.0.3 and it works perfectly. It even has the new Keramik code that lets you change the title bar colours. This rocks. :) The only thing I was disappointed with is that they didn't patch the keramik theme to have a transparent kicker. Oh well..things happen. * Mathias Homann (admin@eregion.de) [020819 13:25]: ::Hi, :: ::anyone seen kde3.0.3 rpms for suse yet? -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--
