[opensuse-kde] kmail not respecting seen flag anymore
Hi, at about the time when this favorite folders subwindow was added to kmail ( a few weeks ago), it started to ignore the seen flag of mails arriving. I set this flag via sieve script on the server for identified spam when those mails are sorted into the spam folder of my imap-account. :-( Additionally, if mails have been read on one machine with kmail (seen flag should be set), they are listed as new unread mails when viewed later with kmail. I wonder if other users have observed this too. Even more important to me, is there a solution for (against) that? greetz fishdude --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

The new version of kmail in 10.3 and KDE:KDE3 for older opensuse stores custom flags (important, todo etc) on the server, where older version stored it locally. I am concerned that this might interfere with the seen flag (which was always stored on the server), especially if you are using both old and new kmails on the same account. Are you using multiple computers with kmail and what versions of kdepim3 are they using? Thanks for the answer. Let me clearify the setup a bit: kmail --version gives: pc at work: KMail 1.9.7 (ubuntu) using imap account A pc at home: KMail: 1.9.6 (enterprise 20070831.706792) (opensuse 10.2) using imap account A and B Problems occur only in kmail at home, but on both accounts. Mails read at work on account A are shown unread when i get home. Account B is only used from home but mails are sorted via sieve on the server side as i said. Since the seen flag always has been stored on the server, somebody must have broken something inside the flag evaluation :-|. Actually, it should not depend on the kmail version being used, as the place of storage of the seen flag has not been changed. That might only occur for the custom flags. greetz Lynx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I'm discussing this with the kmail team. You might also try updating to the most recent KDE:KDE3 packages. Thanks for taking care... :-) I always use the latest KDE:KDE3 packages (daily check). Yesterday i installed the new openSuSE10.3 on my pc at home (also using KDE:KDE3 repo) and surprisingly the seen flag issue does not occur there. I'm using the same home directory though. greetz Lynx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

The kdepim3 from KDE:KDE3 and 10.3 has the fix mentioned by the responsible kmail developer below. Look for "fix message status flags being lost in kmail with imap" in rpm -q --changelog kdepim3. Maybe the kubuntu machine does not have this fix? : However, one intermediate version had a bug which messed up seen flags : resulting in the described behaviour. This has been fixed in revision : 708706. I've checked the changelogs of kdepim3 for both versions i use in 10.2 and 10.3. The fix you mentioned is only stated in kdepim3 for 10.3, as expected ('cause it does what it should). I don't know about the kubuntu version, but it works fine there anyway. There has not been an update lately to their kmail as ls /usr/bin/kmail -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 12440 2007-05-21 23:44 /usr/bin/kmail shows. They also still lack the favorite folders feature. I wonder how they got to the version number 1.9.7. Anyway, i'm happy that it works now in openSuSE10.3 again. Thanks once more for investigating this issue. :-) Lynx PS: As i just saw, there are new kde packages for openSuSE10.2 in KDE:KDE3, i'll see if the fix is applied to them. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
