I just got notice from earthlink that they are going to encrypted mail service. Of course they say absolutely nothing about using any mail client other than windows stuff. So I try to setup for the authentication by gleaning info from their instructions for Eudora, Netscape, etc. Unfortunately I cant get anything sent via their servers. My setup is for the smtpauth.earthlink.net server using TLS and CRAM-MD5 but no matter what I do I get an error 535 saying cant get authorization.During the setup I let Kmail determine what the server will accept and it says, TLS & CRAM-MD5. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? Richard

Richard, I don't recognize some of the things you have mentioned above, but basically setting up for Earthlink's authentication is a simple matter in KMail settings. I'm not sure if this will be of assistance either as my setup is only a simple POP thing. Go to menu>settings>configure kmail>network, then Sending tab. Click Modify on the server listed there and you will notice an area there for Server requires authentication. Check that and enter your email address and password to enter the ISP. Hope that helps Lee -- --- KMail v1.6.82 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 I do everything my Rice Krispies tell me to do!

Thanks for the attempt. At that page I eventually found by trial and error the combination that will let Kmail send mail. For anyone else who may have earthlink, the correct combination is: At the General tab, set host = smtpauth.earthlink.net check Server Requires Authorization Login = your complete email address Password= your pw The at the Security Tab, Encryption = TSL Authentication Method = LOGIN! If you click the button to check what the server uses it will tell you CRAM-MD5.. Dont believe it! Note no server port is specified either. This setup is for Kmail only. Netscape and Opera are slightly different. Thanks again for the help. Richard
