-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am confused. I am running 8.1 and KDE 3.1 and Yast2. My question is when I see a file highlighted in red on Yast2 I see that the installed version has a higher version number than the available version. Is the installed version, the version on my machine or on the server to which Yast2 has attached? I thought I had read somewhere that the color blue meant a new version was available, but the words confuse me. Installed where? Thanks! Installed on your computer. No user should care which version is installed on SuSE's server, only which is /available/. Red means the version you have installed is more current, and blue that a new one is available - so you got it right. But as I noticed recently, this is not always true, since sometimes the information provided to YaST2 by the SuSE servers don't match the packages that are actually available. In my case it was the SuSE 8.1 KDE 3.1 packages for which SuSE provides a YaST2 FTP source on ftp.gwdg.de. I selected some packages highlighted in blue and tried to let them be installed by YaST, but not all of them got installed. As I found out, they were not found because they were not there (replaced by newer versions), so I manually ftp'd an got the rest of them. -- Jens Hatlak http://jens.hatlak.de/ Jugendnetz Frankfurt Adminteam http://ffm.junetz.de/
