I heard if you play the Windows XP CD backwards, you get a satanic message." "That's nothing, if you play it forward, it installs Windows XP"
Markus On Friday 18 April 2003 12:15, Thierry de Coulon wrote:

And since this is an english list: The problem was a crashing kprinter. My solution (I'm using SuSE 8.1, but had the same problem after upgrading to KDE 3.1.1): Add the following in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf ServerName localhost and restart cups. regards Markus -- 2+2 now equals 5.15785423. Please recalibrate your equipment accordingly.

Thanks Markus, Such a simple thing that fixes an annoying problem. Another fix that worked for me also, suggested by another user, was to switch from the CUPS system to the Generic UNIX lpd system. It still used CUPS for printing and didn't crash kprinter. I prefer your method though and using the full CUPS setup. Well, it did not work. However, I folowed anothe advice fom Otto Werner (use YOU) and, after a reboot, well, it seems it now works. I still don't know what was broken, though..................
