[opensuse-kde] Konqueror 4.1 giving error pages on almost any URL I direct it to
Has anyone had the trouble mentioned in the subject? I found a bug report at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=167273 and added to it, but I'm wondering if someone might know a quick fix. I've looked at everything I could think of to look at - I checked network settings in systemsettings (I'm connected directly, nothing else seems off), I grep'ed "network" and "timeout" in ~/.kde4/share/config, I looked at konquerorrc in that directory (has nothing but version information), I checked my cache settings (keep in sync) and whatever else I could think of that I don't remember. Konqueror 3.5.9 works just fine, as does Firefox (which I made my default browser, but I hated doing that). I even tried renaming my .kde4 directory and starting from scratch - it didn't work and I suggest avoiding doing that if you can because when I renamed it back, I still lost a lot of settings, which left me scratching my head. It appears that this is uncommon, as I haven't found much mention of it. As stated in my comments on the bug report, I've had this problem since 4.0 came out. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

KDE4 4.1 openSUSE ?? Have you checked what is running with ps afx Here: kde4-konqueror-4.1.0-23.4 openSUSE 11.0 I was using konqueror quite a lot since your email, -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
I had a similar problem. Konqueror from KDE4 refuses to load nearly every URL or does render the page in a very bad way (missing pictures and so on). For me disabling IPv6 was a workaround, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=402318 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

What's funny is that I had the problem you were having (but it happened in any browser) and just recently found out that I had to disable IPv6. (Thanks to whomever gave me the instructions... I replied to the post, but apparently forgot to change my "from" identity.) I no longer have the problem of waiting forever for a web browser to connect to a site. If any of my browsers (including Konqueror 4.1) are successfully directed to a URL, it's a snappy and consistent load. The only problem now is the new Konqueror - it gives an error page (in my original post, I gave a link to the bug report on bugs.kde.org - the poster of the bug has a screenshot of the page) most of the time when connecting to URLs. When it does connect, it loads everything, including images, every time until the problem pops up, which may be after loading a page or in the middle of loading, at which time some images don't load. After that, it won't connect anywhere until, as someone previously suggested, I killall kio_http. Whatever I find out here I will add to the bugs.kde.org report, including a solution if one is stumbled upon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
