[opensuse-kde] Ktorrent cannot start a download
Hi there, I use Ktorrent on KDe 4.3.1 on openSUSE 11.1. Whenever I open a torrent file the actual download does not start. I do not use the English GUI, but analgously it says something like "stuck" or "stopped" at the status. I sit behind SuSEfirewall and a router, but I have opened port 6881 on tcp and udp as well as port 4444. Why doesn't it work, what do i still have to configure? Try upgrading to KTorrent 3.3 via KDE:Backports repo. The 3.2.4 version had a bug with tracker timeouts afaik. Also afaik some major torrent sites are dropping trackers and relying on DHT only - which isn't available in the openSUSE packages - so you should install the Packman package for KTorrent when it becomes available - hopefully soon - and then enable DHT. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

The router is forwarding the ports ? Use the "UPNP" plugin, most current routers support to get configured via it for automatic port forwarding.

Yes.

I am not a friend of upnp.... It works now in the meantime, i now tried a different torrent file. And I will follow Martin's advise to use the Packman version of Ktorrent. I think it was due to the torrent, I now tested a different torrent file and it works now like a charm! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
